JOB SUMMARY

 The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial activities of Apex Automation Ltd. Reporting into the CFO and COO, this position requires a detail-oriented professional who will support the financial reporting process, collaborate with accounting and operations to streamline processes, and improve information flow. The Senior Accountant will bring technological aptitude to enhancing financial controls and processes, contributing fresh ideas and perspectives to the financial reporting function and finance transformation projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform full-cycle accounting, including general accounting, bank reconciliation, cost accruals, WIP and deferred revenue reconciliations, regulatory sales tax and other relevant tax filings, general ledger account reconciliation, and analysis.
  • Collaborate in overseeing the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Manage weekly rolling cash forecasts.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Monitor costs, analyze cost drivers, and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Develop and implement new accounting standards, policies and procedures, processes, systems, and internal control measures, managing change effectively.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of workflows and processes through finance transformation initiatives, including automation, system implementation, process improvement, and enhanced workflows.
  • Support annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, including reporting.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements, tax laws, and internal financial policies.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team and cross-functionally with operations, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience required in public practice or industry.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (i.e. QuickBooks suite) and open to learning new ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Strong MS Excel skills and an aptitude for learning new technologies including APIs.
  • Experience with ERP implementation is considered an asset. 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and a focus on data integrity.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT – Our team follows a hybrid schedule where employees work in-office a minimum of 3 days a week per week. The balance of the week is flexible and based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. In-office time is used primarily for team meetings as well as formal and informal collaboration. As part of the leadership team, in person engagement is required to support team building and maintenance of culture.

TRAVEL – Travel to our other locations may be required on an as needed basis.
