The HR Advisor Role

The HR advisor plays a key role in attracting qualified candidates and rigorously screens for the best candidate for the current position and future opportunities. They need the ability to apply HR tools such as behavioral-based interviewing and scoring systems to make objective recommendations. Industry knowledge is crucial to promoting strengths for effective recruiting and retaining drivers and other candidates.

Responsibilities / Tasks:
  1. Selection and Recruitment of Drivers:

Work closely with management to ensure their Human Resource needs are understood and met. Manage the hiring and selection process, ensuring compensation guidelines are respected. Keep policies and procedures up to date and supportive of department objectives and legislative obligations.

Recording of Data:

Ensure accurate and timely updates of open personnel, maintenance, memo files. Enter all Master Files information in the computer. Enter all changes in driver and unit status.

HR Responsibilities:

Implement and administer employee policies. Identify ways to improve policies and procedures. Prepare termination and disciplinary letters. Manage work accidents (WCB), including claim management and investigations. Perform administrative work, including scheduling and maintaining files for the Human Resources department.

Health & Safety:

Responsible for the overall Health and Safety Program. Oversee and chair the Safety Committee for assigned terminal. Elevate issues of concern to Labor Canada. Responsible for audits of the Terminal.

Talent Management:

Analyze Exit Reports and make recommendations concerning retention and employee satisfaction.

Other Responsibilities:

Manage events and job fairs. Participate/Organize Corporate events and shows to promote the Company and its benefits. Follow up with Exit Reports to analyze reasons why employees quit.
