The OpportunityWe are seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer (P.Eng) with strong experience in electrical service upgrades for existing buildings. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys owning projects end-to-end, collaborating directly with clients and utilities, and acting as Engineer of Record on meaningful infrastructure upgrades.You’ll step into a key electrical role within a small, collaborative consulting firm where your technical judgment, initiative, and expertise truly matter. You will serve as the firm’s primary electrical resource on service upgrade projects, working closely with mechanical engineers and project stakeholders to support future-ready buildings.What You’ll Be DoingAct as Engineer of Record for electrical service upgrade projectsLead projects through the full lifecycle, including:Responding to RFPsEvaluating existing electrical systems and future load requirementsCoordinating with local utility companies (e.g., Toronto Hydro, Electra, Anova)Providing construction support and resolving site issuesPerform and review future load calculations, accounting for simultaneous loads, code requirements, and system limitationsIntegrate new electrical equipment into existing building systems, addressing space, routing, and infrastructure constraintsRespond to contractor RFIs, unforeseen site conditions, and rerouting challenges during constructionCollaborate closely with mechanical engineers on upgrades involving chillers, boilers, and other major equipmentSupport projects involving solar PV integration into existing electrical distribution systemsWork on a diverse range of projects, including:Municipal facilitiesIce rinks and recreational facilitiesHigh-rise residential and apartment buildingsLibraries, colleges, universities, and social housing developmentsProjects are primarily located in Southwestern Ontario, with regular work across the GTA, Durham Region, and the Peterborough/Port Perry areaWhat You’ll Need to Be Successful5–7 years of hands-on experience with electrical service upgrades in commercial or institutional buildingsProven experience acting as Engineer of RecordStrong understanding of electrical codes, utility requirements, and coordination processesAbility to evaluate future system demands, not just size individual componentsConfident, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of projectsEnjoys working in a small-firm environment with autonomy and accountabilityWilling to learn independently and grow alongside the firmTeam-oriented and comfortable being the go-to electrical resourceP.Eng required (or close to obtaining)Eligible to practice in OntarioCompensation Range: $85,000-$100,000
