Job Title: Lead Hardware Engineer


We are seeking an experienced Lead Hardware Engineer to join our expanding team in Toronto. Reporting to the Director of Product & Hardware, this role is crucial in overseeing the development lifecycle of our hardware product suite. You will lead a team of electrical and mechanical engineers, combining hands-on engineering with team leadership. Your expertise and practical design skills will drive the performance of our products and engineering team.


Key Responsibilities:

 Lead hardware development from concept to production, ensuring products meet customer needs.

 Collaborate with Firmware and Software teams to deliver robust product designs.

 Guide new products into production, ensuring high-quality and cost-e,ective manufacturing.

 Work closely with the Product Team to develop design specifications based on product requirements.

 Navigate products through testing and certification processes.

 Mentor team members on engineering best practices.

 Plan day-to-day activities for the Hardware team as part of bi-weekly sprint planning, ensuring projects stay on track and are delivered on time and to specification.

 Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies.


Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

 At least 6 years of experience in electronics design.

 Previous experience managing a team of at least two direct reports.

 Proven track record of delivering complex electronic designs from concept to production.

 High proficiency with hardware design tools such as Altium Designer and Fusion 360.

 Some experience with embedded development.

 Strong project management skills, with a history of delivering projects on time and within budget.

 Proficiency with engineering project tools such as Jira and Git.

 Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges.

 Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.

 Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
