ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY – Join a GROWING Team


As the Vice President, Finance you will oversee all financial operations of Wesdome in support of the company’s growth and profitability goals. Reporting to the CFO, you will serve as a member of our executive team and will be responsible for the management of finance and accounting processes across the organization including reporting, controls, and external filing. You will provide analysis and insight to the executive team in support of their functional business plans and the company’s overall objectives.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES


A DAY IN THE LIFE of Vice President, Finance at Wesdome


Business executive. Working closely with the CFO, the deep understanding of financial standards and regulatory requirements you will display, will effectively translate complex financial data into strategic information that supports decision-making and drives organizational performance.


Subject matter expert. Highly skilled professional with extensive experience in developing and implementing robust reporting frameworks. This individual excels in preparing accurate and comprehensive financial reports that meet the specific needs of critical internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity and actionable insights. Will manage the company’s financial operations including accounting, tax and treasury.


Data Alchemist. Leading forecasting, planning, budgeting, financial analysis, and cash management will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies involved in these functions. You will be the person leading the financial plans, and budgets, ensuring that they align with the company's goals. With a keen eye for detail and strong analytical skills, you will not only provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations, but you will provide ways of transforming the data into actions.


Relationship builder. Accurate and transparent financial reporting builds trust with investors, shareholders, and other stakeholders, enhancing the company’s reputation and market value.

Leading change. You will guide the company through upcoming changes and will use your experience to help the area to navigate through organizational changes. You have successfully led technology implementations, replacements, and process changes in the past and you possess a deep understanding of the complexities involved in such transformations and excel in managing resistance with a professional and empathetic approach. Your ability to communicate effectively and build trust ensures that you are constantly checking for concerns and addressing them on time, fostering a positive attitude towards change.


Market savvy. Conduct detailed analyses of financial statements to identify trends, variances, and potential issues. Identifies financial risks and ensures that the company remains compliant with regulatory requirements.


Ambassador of continuous improvement. Through detailed analysis, you will identify areas for cost savings and revenue enhancement, directly impacting the company’s profitability. Highlight areas of financial risk and opportunities for cost savings.


Adaptable, inclusive and knowledgeable leader. Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Promote collaboration and effective communication within the finance department and across the organization.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting with a CA or CPA professional accounting designation;
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably in the mining industry;
  • Extensive knowledge of Canadian financial regulations and industry standards;
  • Proven track record of strategic financial planning and execution;
  • Ability to develop long-term financial strategies that align with Company goals;
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly;
  • Proficient in financial analysis and risk management;
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office and Excel. Knowledge of SAP would be an asset;
  • Bilingual (verbal and written communication skills) in English and French is an asset.
