About the Role


CIM is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Senior Leadership and Executive Management team. As the CFO, you will act as the key business and strategic partner to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), providing critical accounting and financial planning services to the Institute. This role is pivotal in guiding the organization toward revenue growth and ensuring financial stability.


Key Responsibilities


  • Financial Management: Oversee operational financial and accounting needs, including month-end processes and management reporting.
  • Policy and Compliance: Develop, promote, and monitor compliance with CIM's financial policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop financial strategies, manage the annual budget, forecast capital needs, and prepare long-term financial projections.
  • Business Case Formulation: Provide expertise to the CEO and Executive Committee in evaluating growth opportunities and sustainability of existing activities.
  • Performance Metrics: Monitor financial performance, analyze results, and initiate corrective actions to address variances.
  • Investment Management: Maximize investment fund returns and maintain relationships with investment advisors.
  • Tax Management: Review the Institute's tax position, assess exposure related to fundraising activities, and suggest mitigation strategies.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, develop, manage, and evaluate a small finance team.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare consolidated financial statements and execute strategies for reporting CIM’s activities.
  • Governance Support: Assist the CEO in monitoring and enforcing policies in compliance with the Institute's By-Laws and other policies.


About You


  • Experience: Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role, preferably within a non-profit or similar organization.
  • Skills: Strong strategic thinking, financial planning, and analysis skills. Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Qualifications: CPA or equivalent professional designation is highly desirable.
  • Attributes: High level of integrity, excellent communication skills with advanced working knowledge in French and English, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
