The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for managing the automated electronic and shock tube detonator assembly plants daily. The assembly process includes preparing raw materials and assembling the electronic and shock tube detonator assemblies, including overseeing quality control and validation actions related to assembly. Leading the production staff and maintenance activities and the daily management and coordination of plant operations, including production, maintenance, and quality control, while ensuring compliance with all labour, safety, environmental, and corporate policies and regulations.



Responsibilities:


  • Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioural based safety (Safety Leadership)
  • Ensure alignment of activities and resources within the value stream, and ensure cross-organization collaboration and associate involvement where appropriate
  • Plant productivity
  • Material productivity, including first-pass efficiency and waste management
  • People productivity, including training & development
  • Cost management – Ensure cost efficiency of every operation by actively managing daily costs, overtime, wastage, and efficiency
  • Adherence to sound HSE principles, including ensuring compliance with the Regulatory requirements
  • Ensure maintenance and continual improvement of the management systems based on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and international safety standards, which include Process Safety Management
  • Work closely with or manage quality control personnel to review product consistency while monitoring scrap rates to determine trends and areas for improvement
  • Monitor production expenses and research ways to reduce costs while maintaining safety and quality standards
  • Maintain and support a superior safety and housekeeping program, including all timely communication requirements
  • Control, track and review performance against objectives, KPIs, production and safety targets and lead improvement actions to ensure optimal performance
  • Ensure key roles are staffed with competent and appropriately trained personnel
  • Effectively manage manpower requirements, production planning, stock management, instrumentation calibration, plant maintenance, plant modifications and safety controls, e.g. detonator handling safety.
  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment in a good state of repair with Adherence to the prescribed quality assurance framework
  • Timeous reporting, investigation and follow-up of all safety and quality deviations
  • Timeous and accurate review and follow-up of manual and system-generated production and engineering reports, followed by timeous corrective actions.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Business, or related discipline.


Experience:


  • 5+ years related technical experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a leadership position or supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ experience in Supply Management within a manufacturing environment (Advantageous)
  • Complete understanding of Safety, Quality, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Capacity / Resource Planning, Continuous Improvement and all others activities that go into the production process.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and develop operational plans.
  • Knowledge of business finance linking financial outcomes with operations actions and strategy.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement.
