Job Title: Risk Management Specialist


Position Overview:

The Risk Management Specialist plays a key role in identifying, assessing, and managing project risks to ensure smooth and efficient project execution. This role involves leading project risk workshops, performing detailed risk analyses, and collaborating with project management teams to implement effective risk management strategies. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in risk management within civil infrastructure or construction projects, with strong analytical and communication skills.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate risk workshops and meetings to identify, assess, prioritize, and strategize responses to project risks. Maintain and update the Project Risk Register accordingly.
  • Support project teams in developing and maintaining project risk management practices, including creating risk registers, developing risk profiles, and establishing confidence levels for specific project outcomes.
  • Conduct regular reviews of risk registers with the project team across various project stages to ensure effective risk identification, assessment, and management, providing consistent updates to project managers.
  • Perform both qualitative and quantitative risk analyses to aid in making informed, risk-based decisions.
  • Compile and present quarterly risk reports to project managers, summarizing key insights and recommendations.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of risk management procedures and work instructions.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of dedicated experience in Project Risk Management, ideally within civil infrastructure or construction project environments.
  • Practical experience reviewing technical project documents (e.g., drawings, design basis, schedules, estimates) to identify potential risks.
  • Proven track record of leading and facilitating risk workshops with project teams.
  • Hands-on experience with data collection and performing both qualitative and quantitative risk analyses.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of engineering and construction methodologies.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Human Rights Code and relevant accessibility requirements is preferred.


Education & Certification Requirements:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in an engineering-related discipline with experience in planning, scheduling, and/or project management, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Preferred certifications include Risk Management Professional (RMP) by PMI or similar credentials from AACE or other industry leaders.
