The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of a team of Quality Assurance Coordinators and delivery of a wide range of inspections, providing technical support, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring compliance with quality standards and procedures ensuring efficiency and production objectives are achieved. This role is actively involved in identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and ensures internal quality system standards – structural, mechanical, electrical - are upheld via auditing, procedure writing corrective actions and reporting.


Key Accountabilities


  • Supervise a team of QA Coordinators, providing technical support and coaching, creating a successful positive team environment.
  • Review production schedules, processes, blueprints, diagrams, specifications, and related information with the Production Managers, to ensure QA support to all activities and through all stages of production.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work, take corrective action, administer discipline, address complaints, and resolve problems.
  • Provide expertise in quality assurance to optimize production processes, maximizing quality and efficiency (continuous improvement mindset).
  • Assist in developing quality standards in cooperation with production management and project management.
  • Train staff for new processes and provide instructions and manuals.
  • Assures necessary equipment, personnel, tooling, and materials are available.
  • Conducts accident and investigations as per Fero’s policy.
  • Identifying workplace safety hazards. Follow all company Health and Safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ability to work overtime and/or weekends if required.
  • Ensure that all employees and production activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Fero Code of Business Conduct.
  • Employee may perform other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.


Qualifications


  • 5+ years of leadership experience with the ability to build and lead a fast-paced and high functioning team, in either construction or manufacturing.
  • Minimum 3 years of quality supervisory experience in either construction or manufacturing.
  • Assume quality control accountability with experience leading internal quality assessments and assisting in developing procedures and quality assurance plans.
  • Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to influence project planning and sequencing.
  • Ability to monitor project progress to ensure timely inspections.
  • Ability to identify quality risks associated with the project(s).
  • Ability to interpret plans, blueprints and specifications.
  • Strong technical aptitude, with knowledge of MS Office applications (including SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)


Preferred


  • Knowledge of the construction industry; understands specifications, drawings, methods, and procedures.
  • Level 2 visual weld certification certified by CWB or a similar certification body.
  • Excellent understanding and interpretation of building codes: mechanical, electrical, and related federal and provincial regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Familiar with using Fieldwire or any other construction related project management software.


Physical Requirements


  • Must stand for long periods, with frequent lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions including outdoors.
  • Bending, crouching, kneeling, lifting, tight spaces and ladder use.
  • Working at heights.
  • Wearing PPE such as safety boots, safety vest, safety glasses and gloves.
