Location Located at the Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant in Pickering, Ontario. Maintenance Operator 3 - Millwright, WasteWater The duties include:  Operate and maintain the Water Pollution Control Plant Maintain and repair pumps, air compressors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, chemical delivery system,  centrifuges, pumps, and other equipment as  required Read diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures Install, align and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment  Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the installation, set up and repair  of machinery Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance  or set up of machinery Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment Standby duty, overtime work and the ability to respond quickly as required as well as the ability to work on a  rotating shift schedulePerform other related duties as assigned Applicants must have: A minimum of 14 years of formal educationA Class 1 Wastewater Treatment License and willingness/ability to advance within the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) Wastewater Operator Certification ProgramA Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic 433A (Millwright) or be in possession of an Interprovincial Red Seal Trade CertificationA valid Ontario Class G Driver's LicenceRespectful collaboration with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and experiences.Familiarity in any of the following areas would be an asset: computerized and hands-on plant operations, Confined Space, First Aid and CPR, WHMIS, Aerial Work platform, Forklift, Boom Truck operation, and computer maintenance management systems Candidates who possess an Operator in Training (OIT) Wastewater Treatment Licence and are willing to register and advance within the MECP Wastewater Operator Certification Program may also apply, however, preference will be given to applicants with a Class 1 Wastewater Treatment Licence. Applicants without an OIT, must have the ability to obtain by examination an Operator-in-Training (OIT) Wastewater Treatment Licence by the Ontario Water Wastewater Certificate Office (OWWCO). An OIT must be obtained within 3 months of hire, and you must pass the Class 1 exam within 6 months of hire.    Maintenance Operator 3 Skilled Trade w Class 1 - $49.47 per hour Conditions of Employment All applicants are expected to comply with the Region of Durham's Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct Policies throughout the recruitment process.
