We're looking for a hands-on Senior Accountant to join a well-established construction company in Waterloo, Ontario. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day — from progress billing and payroll to month-end close and reporting. You'll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial operations and supporting the leadership team with reliable financial insights.Key Responsibilities:Manage day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.Prepare and process progress billings for construction projects, collaborating closely with project managers and operational teams.Oversee and support Accounts Receivable (AR) functions, including invoicing, collections, and account reconciliations.Complete bi-weekly payroll processing through ADP, ensuring accuracy and adherence to employment and tax regulations.Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.Maintain and analyze job cost reports to ensure accurate financial tracking of project budgets and profitability.Support financial statement preparation and provide variance analysis for management review.Utilize NetSuite ERP to streamline accounting workflows, generate reports, and maintain data integrity.Leverage advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas) to analyze and report on financial data.Collaborate with external auditors during year-end audits, providing documentation and explanations as required.Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and reporting.Qualifications:Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction or project-based industry.Strong working knowledge of NetSuite ERP and ADP Payroll systems.Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Why Join:Be part of a respected, growing company in the local construction industry.Work alongside a collaborative, down-to-earth team.Competitive compensation package and room to grow within the finance team.- A minimum of five years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with attention to detail.- Proficiency in accounting software systems, including NetSuite and Great Plains.- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas.- Experience with payroll processing, particularly using ADP or similar systems.- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, tax accounting, and compliance standards.- Demonstrated ability to manage accounts receivable functions and reconcile accounts accurately.- Familiarity with computerized accounting systems and financial data management.- Proven track record of contributing to process improvements and enhancing operational efficiency.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
