We're excited to be partnered with Birch Mountain Enterprises (BME), Northern Alberta’s leader in fluid handling services. It is proudly Indigenous-owned, and with the largest privately owned fleet in the Fort McMurray Region, no job is too big to handle. Headquartered in Fort McKay, BME boasts over 360 Team Members and takes pride in employing local residents, supporting our community today, and our children’s future.
Their Team Members appreciate working in a family atmosphere that values open communication, 2-way accountability from leaders and front-line, and a collective focus on delivering quality service. BME is proud to be recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies and the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce’s 2021 Indigenous Business of the Year.
They are seeking a Site Manager for BME’s Kearl Lake operation to lead its team of over 80 Class 1 Operators, supervisors, dispatchers, technicians, and HSE Team. You’ll not only lead their team on the ground but also be BME’s face to the client, working directly with them regularly to drive their satisfaction.
This role reports to the Executive Director of Operations and works 12-hour days on a 4-on, 3-off schedule. It offers fly-in/fly-out to Edmonton or Calgary and camp accommodations at Wapasu Lodge during your shift, as well as highly competitive compensation and benefits compared to similar companies. The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of leadership experience, a solid ability to collaborate with a team, enjoy solving problems, and be an effective communicator.
Our recruiting process is simple. Applicants whose skills and resumes align with the role will be interviewed. If that interview goes well, BME’s Executive Director of Operations will interview candidates and extend an offer to the successful applicant

- Effectively implement the company’s safety programs, policies, and safe work procedures alongside the HSE Team to empower employees to operate safely within health and safety regulations
- Assist the Human Resources team with recruitment, employee assessments, and ensuring training plans are executed
- Build a strong relationship with our valued client, regularly interfacing directly, providing reporting as required, and maintaining high satisfaction
- Ensure complete, timely, and accurate time entry and subsequent equipment and manpower invoicing
- Maximize and address concerns about fleet utilization, ensure an adequate fleet is available for work, and ensure maintenance programs are executed
- Understand financial requirements and manage the profit and loss of the business unit by creating and managing budgets
- Analyze accounting and financial data, ensuring costs remain under control and identifying opportunities to increase revenue
- Implement process improvements by identifying optimization opportunities, including through the use of technology
- Conduct general and site inspections to perform field-level assessments of compliance with expectations, policies, and procedures
