App Support Analyst

Our client in the financial services sector is looking for a fulltime/permanent Application Support analyst to support their banking/payment systems. Focus is on resolve app issues at application and infrastructure level, including proactive monitoring.


Location: Hybrid 1d/week - Toronto


Responsibilities:

  • Provide application support and maintenance for Java/JEE applications.
  • Monitor and support WebSphere, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud architecture environments.
  • Troubleshoot applications using APM tools like AppDynamics and Dynatrace.
  • Adopt an SRE mindset to ensure application availability.
  • Identify and address application monitoring needs or performance issues, and implement appropriate instrumentation in AppDynamics and Splunk.
  • Design and configure AppDynamics monitoring, including health rules and alerts, for various applications.
  • Understand networking concepts and network hardware.
  • Investigate and identify root causes using logs on Linux servers.
  • Write queries and generate reports using databases and Splunk.
  • Manage integrations between AppDynamics, Splunk, PagerDuty, and ServiceNow.
  • Identify opportunities for automation to build self-remediation capabilities.
  • Create or update performance analysis reports, dashboards, and knowledge bases.
  • Propose and implement solutions to enhance application availability and reliability.
  • Work with API and microservices technologies and containerization.


Requirements:

  • 5+ years of software development (Java)/ maintenance experience, preferably with experience in payment systems or the banking domain and can test and devise solutions
  • 3+ years experience in Application Support, focusing on improving application reliability by enhancing application monitoring, designing, and instrumenting dashboards and tuning alerts, preferably with AppDynamics, and Splunk.
  • Experience in network troubleshooting and Infrastructure tuning.
  • Strong SRE Background and focus on improving the reliability and stability of the infrastructure.
  • Experience in using CI/CD platform for deployment.
  • Excellent understanding of ITIL service management processes.
  • You have experience in maintaining high-performance, service-oriented architectures.
  • Experienced in scripting tools such as Power Shell, BASH, Python, and Ansible.
  • Must have RDBMS expertise - Oracle or DB2.
  • Have a solid understanding of different open-source packages, preferably Spring, Apache and data transformation (jaxb2, JSON, XML).
