The Analyst works within a team environment to provide substantial support on evaluation projects and works closely with staff throughout the department and other Government of Alberta Departments. 

As an Analyst you will work within the Strategic Evaluation (SE) function of the Quality Assurance and Accountability unit and report to the Manager, Strategic Evaluation. The SE function is responsible for establishing and maintaining a consistent ministry-wide approach to evaluation. The team conducts evaluations of programs, services and strategic initiatives; builds capacity and readiness for evaluation within the ministry; and provides oversight, guidance and technical expertise to ensure evaluation related activities are undertaken in alignment with the SCSS Performance Management Framework (PMF).

In this position, you will help to ensure that sound research methods and approaches are used to identify and address client’s evaluation needs. You will exercise critical thinking and creative problem solving to support the work of the team, and of the unit. 


In this role, you will provide support on evaluation projects, including:

Development of evaluation approaches, logic models, instruments (e.g. surveys) and frameworks; Implementation of evaluation plans for the ministry’s major initiatives through project and contract management support; Data collection processes including primary data collection;  Quantitative and qualitative data analysis; and Report writing and presentations of evaluation findings. 

Additionally, you will support a broad range of unit and branch activities that may include: 

Supporting the development of accountability frameworks (e.g., logic models, performance measures, standards, targets); Supporting evaluation capacity within the ministry; and Supporting continuous improvement, quality assurance, performance measurement, research and data acquisition.
