Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, the Maintenance Service Worker will perform general maintenance duties related to the operation of various buildings within the jurisdiction of the Facilities Manager for the Calgary Correctional Spyhill Complex.

The primary responsibilities for Maintenance Service Worker include but are not limited to:

Completing work orders in a timely and efficient manner Moves of and repairs to client furnishings Painting Repairs to equipment Lamp replacement Unclogging toilets Cleaning and completing caretaking in various locations and reporting unusual conditions observed to the Facilities Coordinator Other duties as required

The Maintenance Service Worker assists trades by:

Working with hand and power tools Performing semi-skilled work Ordering and picking up material and supplies



The Maintenance Service Worker 2 provides direction to contractors by:

Meeting and escorting them on site Inspecting the work of contractors (in some instances)

Qualifications

Required:

Some high school education PLUS one year of related experience Physically able to perform the manual duties of the position  Willing and able to work in a correctional facility and in close proximity to inmates Valid Class 5 driver’s license


Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or  1 year of experience for 1 year of education



Assets: 

Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of building systems.

Notes

Hours of work: 8 hours daily / 40 hours per week
