As part of the Student Equity and Support Services Branch, you will work with both the Student Services and SchoolsPlus/Integrated Services divisions to provide direction and integrated leadership to the Regional Centres for Education (RCEs) and le Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP) regarding the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of policies, guidelines, programming, and services that support the academic achievement and well-being of all students. The Branch works collaboratively across the department and government to ensure the provision of a high-quality, culturally, and linguistically responsive, and equitable public education system.
About Our Opportunity
We are seeking a Provincial School Counselling Consultant to join our innovative and dynamic team.
As the successful Provincial School Counselling Consultant, your primary responsibility will be leading the implementation of the Comprehensive School Counselling (CSC) Framework to meet the changing and complex realities of school communities. This will result in enhanced well-being and achievement for students in Nova Scotia.
The provincial School Counselling Consultant will collaborate to promote and enhance access to culturally and linguistically responsive instructional/counselling practices and lead the development and implementation of research-proven resources, initiatives, and training opportunities as part of the comprehensive school counselling framework.
As a Consultant within the Student Services Division, you will work collaboratively with regional/board teams EECD colleagues, and external partners (government and community) to support the recruitment and retention of qualified School Counsellors with the knowledge and expertise to provide responsive, preventative, and proactive social emotional learning, behavioral and mental health programming in our schools.
This role is multi-faceted and as part of the CSC Framework, the School Counselling Consultant will be tasked to assist in implementing and monitoring various initiatives in the areas of Well-Being/Behavior, Learning and Achievement, and Life Transition and Career Planning. Responsibilities also include administrative duties and required procedures including researching, reviewing and maintaining data, correspondence, reporting and carrying out other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience
As the successful candidate, you will have:
a Master of Education or Arts in School Counselling, plus eight years related experience. OR A Bachelor of Education Degree or eligibility to be certified through the Nova Scotia Office of Teacher CertificationA minimum of eight (8) years of successful and recent school-based experience as a School Counsellor.
Experience in an education leadership role (coach/mentor, consultant, coordinator, school administration, or equivalent) is required.
Required experience includes working with teachers and school board staff in the public school system in the areas of human rights education, cultural proficiency and culturally responsive teaching.
The successful candidate will have outstanding verbal, written, communication and presentation skills, as well as excellent organizational skills, will be detailed-oriented and will have demonstrated ability to multi-task. In addition, the successful candidate will have the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups, community partners/members and colleagues. Strong decision-making and leadership skills are required.
Assets considered for this position include:
Credentials in project management and program evaluation experience. Bilingualism (fluent in French and English).

Working Conditions
Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day May be required to work overtime on occasion Travel is required to attend meetings and offer services
