School Board Liaison

Location: Edmonton, AB

The School Board Liaison is responsible for ensuring that school runs are operating smoothly and that the driving staff, public, and schools we serve receive excellent customer service. This position involves frequent day-to-day communication with these stakeholders and requires someone who has exemplary patience, organizational, and communication skills to be successful.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor bus routes; correct or create route schedules, as required
  • Distribute schedules to dispatch, drivers, and attendants upon final approval from the board
  • Communicate route vacancies to appropriate departments
  • Assign drivers and attendants to open routes
  • Act as a liaison between schools, parents, and SOUTHLAND to ensure inquiries and concerns are resolved in a professional and timely manner
  • Attend driver meetings at the schools
  • Attend board meetings, as required

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Map reading skills with a strong knowledge of the city; specifically road systems, locations of schools, and major attractions
  • Class 2 driver's license considered an asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of company policies/procedures
  • Strong communication skills and phone etiquette
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure

Working Conditions:

The School Board Liaison role is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with a regular work day falling between the operational hours of 7:00 am - 4:00 pm (must be flexible).
