  • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
  • Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hoursCertificates, licences, memberships, and courses 
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate
  • First Aid CertificateSupport for newcomers and refugees
  • Assists with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: housing, transportation, storage, childcare, winter clothing, etc.)
  • Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.)Support for Indigenous people
  • Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers
  • Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations
  • Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers
