Who are we looking for?

Our Ontario Transportation Group is looking for a Project Director ready to join our growing Canadian Operations in our Markham office. The Transportation Group within GHD Canada works with Provincial, Regional, and local municipal transportation agencies, as well as select contracting partners, on projects including highways, roads and bridges, transit and multi-modal infrastructure, and transportation planning.

Our team provides integrated transportation services throughout the project lifecycle from initial policy, transportation economics, and business case advice, through planning, concept, environmental assessment, detailed design, construction administration, and asset management support.

Candidates’ career path:

This role is intended for a Project Manager and Project Director interested in the advancement of their career in leading a wide range of municipal planning and design projects. The role will provide exposure to and opportunities for growth in business development, staff management, and operations management.

Candidates’ career experiences may consist of:

  1. Successful participation in, and completion of, municipal and bridge projects.
  2. Leading multi-disciplinary teams for preliminary and detail design road and bridge projects for municipal clients as a Project Manager.
  3. Taking ownership for all aspects of the management of projects from proposal to close-out, including managing teams, sub-consultants, budgets, schedule, quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
  4. Providing technical leadership and mentorship to intermediate and junior staff.
  5. Teamwork in small and large teams.
  6. Owning the integration with other engineering disciplines, engineers, and design staff in the production of high-quality project deliverables.
  7. Promoting best practices and leadership in the delivery of Highway, Road, and Bridge Projects.
  8. Supporting Business Development including capture planning and leading proposals.
  9. Contributing to the development and execution of the business development strategy for relevant clients, including creating capture plans and enhancing client relationships.
Candidate Qualifications:

- Post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering
- Ontario . designation required (or eligible)
- 20+ years' experience in design and engineering of transportation infrastructure projects, including project management experience.
- Experience working with municipal transportation clients within the Greater Toronto Area.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proven track record to develop, mentor, and lead professional technical staff.
