Introduction

Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure (MTI) is seeking an Infrastructure Program Systems Technician to join the Capital Planning Branch. The Capital Planning Branch is responsible for managing the annual capital programs; providing expertise in program development for short and long-term strategic capital infrastructure investment plans and policies of the department; building the framework and analysis for decision-making and establishing value for money across all of Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure's asset categories; and managing the maintenance, enhancements and quality assurance of data, programs and project systems (Construction Management System (CMS), MTl's geo-referenced, internal and public-facing maps of capital projects and MTI’s Capital Infrastructure Dashboards.)

Conditions of Employment: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada Must be able to work unscheduled overtime and extended hours. Qualifications: Essential: Completion of a Civil Engineering Technology Diploma or completion of Department Level 3 training program or a suitable combination of education and experience. Experience in roadway, bridge or water infrastructure construction.  Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively in a team. Strong verbal communication skills. Experience in collecting background material for the preparation of process manuals, reports or presentations. Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Desired: Experience working with databases and preparing data analysis and reports. Experience with a Project/Construction/Contract Management System guidelines, practices and methods. Duties: The Infrastructure Programs Systems (IPS) Technician reports to the Infrastructure Programs and Systems Manager and performs advanced technical and engineering related functions supporting the daily operations of the Construction Management System (CMS) including providing user support, preparing various reports, entering contracts, entering projects, querying, analyzing and checking the quality of data.

The IPS Technician is a technical resource to support Infrastructure, Capital Projects (ICP), Transportation Operations (TO) and Engineering & Technical Services (ETS) Divisions staff in all aspects of the construction management system and ensures consistent and uniform application of divisional policies and procedures relating to infrastructure management.
