Yellowknife, Canada Government of Northwest Territories Full time

Job Information

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is seeking a Compensation and Collective Bargaining Advisor. Reporting to the Manager, Negotiations and Compensation, this role involves conducting thorough research and analysis to support the design and amendment of compensation programs and labour practices, ensuring competitive pay, motivation, and rewards for public service employees. As a key member of the Labour Relations Team, you will contribute to strategic collective bargaining preparations, participate in negotiations, and implement provisions of collective agreements. You will also develop policy and legislative proposals on compensation and labour trends, providing essential data and recommendations to senior management to inform critical decision makers regarding human and financial resources.

Strong communication skills are essential for producing presentations, legislative proposals, and briefing notes, as well as for collaborating with the various stakeholders of the GNWT. The ability to prioritize, organize effectively, and commit to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness in the workplace is also crucial.

Beyond the professional scope, living and working in the Northwest Territories offers a unique work-life balance. Yellowknife, known for its stunning natural beauty, provides opportunities to experience a variety of activities such as aurora viewing, hiking, fishing, and camping. This role not only allows you to make a meaningful impact on the lives of GNWT employees but also to enjoy a high quality of life in a vibrant community.

Typically, in order to be successful in the Compensation and Collective Bargaining Advisor role, you will hold a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration with an emphasis on labour relations and two years of experience.
