The Senior Specialist is an integral member of the Patient and Provider Experience program within Person-Centred Care and plays an essential role leading the development, planning and evaluation of Person Reported Measurement (PRM) initiatives within the Population Health and Value Based Systems Portfolio.

This role will collaborate closely with internal program and external stakeholders to prepare presentations/reports/briefing notes/etc., organize and facilitate meetings, manage project timelines as well as other assigned activities.

This role will support ongoing, well-established, and new areas of work focused on patient and provider experience and engagement as well as contribute to health system performance reporting.


Here is what you will be doing:
Support the Population Health and Value Based Health System portfolio, Ontario Health Teams and other entities with patient, client, resident, caregiver, community and provider experience activities including patient reported measurement in collaboration with internal and external partners

Foster and support relationships with key partners within Ontario Health and with such external partners, such as the Ministry of Health and Ontario Health Teams

Support alignment and implementation of provincial, regional, digital, and clinical standards and guidelines, as appropriate

Work closely with the Communications and Engagement portfolio and other internal teams to coordinate and support patient, client, resident, caregiver, community and provider engagement activities

Advise internal teams on incorporating person-centred care principles into health service design and delivery

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on development of public-facing communications

Collect and synthesize input from a wide range of stakeholders using a variety of collection methods

Advise and update management teams on a regular basis, including challenges, risks and opportunities

Organize routine and ad-hoc meetings with health system partners and other key stakeholders (i.e., clinicians)

Plan, lead, and execute several medium-to-large scale projects/quality initiatives

Actively manage projects, including identifying and effectively communicating with relevant stakeholders, managing project documentation and work plans, driving agendas, and providing input in a collaborative setting

Develop needs assessments, evaluations, jurisdictional scans, briefing notes, options analyses, and impact assessments to create program policies and guidance.

Develop and present material using excellent written and verbal communication skills

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education and Experience

A relevant Bachelor's Degree is required and a Master's Degree is preferred in a related discipline (Health Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Social Science etc.)

Two to five years of overall working experience including experience working in the healthcare sector in large-scale system improvement or evaluation

Knowledge of PRM; Patient Reported Experience and Outcomes Measurement (PREMS and PROMs) and experience with supporting the collection, reporting and utilization of PRM data to inform quality improvement

Experience with patient, client, resident, caregiver, community and provider engagement

Experience in survey design and methodology preferred

Experience in facilitating interviews and focus groups then analyzing qualitative data preferred

Experience in evaluation preferred

Experience conducting literature reviews and environmental scans an asset

Experience with development of public-facing communication and resource materials

Health care provider experience is considered an asset

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of person-centred care principles

Knowledge of population health and health equity principles including social determinants of health

An understanding of Ontario's health care system

Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint

Demonstrated ability to work as an effective and enthusiastic team player

Familiarity with experience measurement strategies including surveys, interviews, and focus groups

Demonstrated ability to foster relationships with key stakeholders to establish trust, credibility, and respect and clearly articulate key messages that resonate across different stakeholder groups and audiences

Excellent writing skills including the ability to prepare briefing notes, reports, and business presentations

Excellent oral skills including ability to create and deliver effective presentations and answer questions

Demonstrated ability to work under direction of senior staff, but with minimal supervision (self-starter)

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritize assignments to meet strict deadlines
