About the Role

The Atlantic Publishers Marketing Association (APMA) is seeking a visionary Executive Director to lead the organization's marketing and publishing efforts. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the successful execution of the annual operations of the APMA and its marketing projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Oversee the implementation of the vision and strategic plan for the association and its projects, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Digital Strategy: Develop and implement a new digital strategy, leveraging the latest marketing and publishing trends to drive engagement and growth.
  • Government Relations: Liaise with government departments and agencies to maintain support and advocacy for the APMA's initiatives.
  • Communications and Lobbying: Develop and implement effective communications and lobbying strategies to promote the APMA's interests and goals.
  • Contract Management: Handle contracts, grants, and proposal writing, ensuring timely and effective execution.
  • Funding and Partnerships: Investigate new funding opportunities and oversee partnership activities, fostering collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
  • Industry Advocacy: Advocate for the APMA within the industry, building relationships with other associated bodies and organizations.
  • Financial Management: Manage the association's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Project Management: Coordinate project workflow, working closely with the Project Manager and task force leads to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the executive and members of the association, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Customer and Supplier Relations: Liaise with existing customers, members, suppliers, and sponsors, recruiting new ones to drive growth and engagement.
  • Marketing and Sales: Solicit and sell advertising space and other marketing opportunities, coordinating online and digital sales and marketing campaigns.
  • Outreach and Development: Conduct outreach and development activities to increase access to and awareness of the APMA and its programs.
  • Procurement: Purchase goods and services for the association, ensuring competitive pricing and quality.
  • IT Management: Oversee the engagement of editorial voices for Atlantic Books Today, working closely with the Project Manager.
  • Team Management: Supervise, manage, and collaborate with staff in a team environment, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Representation: Represent the APMA in public settings and to media, creating and implementing public relations policies and publicity efforts.
Requirements
  • Marketing Experience: Book-related marketing experience in both digital and traditional formats, with a strong understanding of the publishing industry.
  • Education and Qualifications: Degree in marketing, publishing, or equivalent, with relevant experience and skills.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Simply Accounting, Excel, or equivalent bookkeeping programs, with familiarity with InDesign, Quark, Photoshop, or other design programs.
  • Industry Knowledge: Working knowledge of the history, current status, and issues faced by the publishing industry, with an interest in strategic developments, particularly in the digital environment.
  • Leadership and Management: Proven ability to provide direction and leadership in the implementation of arts development strategies, programs, and initiatives, with knowledge of grant-writing and public funding systems.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication, interpersonal, consultative, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
