Caretaker Position Available

This position involves performing cleaning duties, minor repairs, and other tasks related to the operation of the caretaking division.

Job Description:

  • Perform cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning washrooms, furniture, windows, walls, ceilings, floors, and appliances.
  • Collect garbage and replenish paper and chemical supplies.
  • Write reports for stock, maintenance, and building repair issues.
  • Perform minor repairs, such as replacing lights, and assist with furniture moving and setup for special events.
  • Strip, wax, and polish floors, and use a forklift to assist with deliveries and garbage bins.
  • Perform security duties and maintain professional relations with the public and fellow staff.
  • Attend mandatory in-service training and maintain equipment and keep it clean.

Requirements:

  • Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalency.
  • Up to three months of experience with current cleaning practices, WHMIS, and operation and maintenance of cleaning equipment.
  • Valid and lawful Class 'G' Driver's License for operating a City vehicle.
  • Ability to complete assigned duties with minimal supervision.
  • Good relations with corporate staff and the general public.
  • Willingness to work any shift.
  • General knowledge of operation and maintenance of cleaning equipment.

  • The physical demands analysis indicates a light to heavy level of work.
  • A post-offer agility test will be required to assist the successful candidate in completing the position tasks safely.
