Software Developer II

CNN is seeking a highly skilled Software Developer II to join our Audio/Video Web team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying digital products that meet the company's goals and provide an exceptional user experience.
We are building new digital products, such as direct-to-consumer subscription services, new features, and capabilities to support a premium news experience and engage our audiences. If you are passionate about building innovative digital products and have a strong background in software development, we encourage you to apply.
About the TeamOur team is a cross-functional group of technical, design, and product leads, as well as a team of engineers who work together to plan, develop, review, and deploy products. As a Software Developer II, you will play a crucial role in feature development, quality code, peer reviews, and operational support.
The Daily- Contribute to software development, learn from your peers, ask questions, and grow as an engineer.
- Full stack development with JavaScript, HTML/CSS & Responsive design.
- Agile ceremony participation (Scrum, Planning, Retros, Demos).
- Unit testing with frameworks such as Jest, Jasmine, and Mocha.
- You are excited to learn and ready to take on new challenges.
- You are an excellent communicator with your team members and peers.
- You are passionate about improving the code you touch and interact with.
- You are excited to add positively to the culture of CNN, both from an interpersonal level and from a code improvement standpoint.
- Understand engineering best practices, design patterns, reviews, testing, and alerting.
- Experience with AWS services or other Cloud Platforms.
- Knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and NoSQL.
- Familiarity with other modern programming languages, frameworks, platforms, APIs, and/or SDKs.
- Knowledge of Operations, CI/CD, and DevOps.
