Job Category Non Union Technicians and Research Assistants Job Profile Non Union Salaried - Research Assistant /Technician 3 Job Title Research Technician 3 Department Research Core Facility Biobank | Centre for Brain Health | Faculty of Medicine Compensation Range $4, $5,385.67 CAD Monthly Job Summary The Research Technician (RT) plays a key role in the Borgland Family Brain Tissue and DNA Bank core facility, overseeing complex activities such as managing patient databases, creating research protocols, and ensuring rigorous ethical guidelines. Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Biobank patient database, including data entry, extraction, and archiving
  • Assist in developing new patient databases using REDCap and Open Specimens platforms
  • Oversee informed consent procedures with research participants
  • Assist in designing experiments and developing new techniques and SOPS
  • Plan and perform experiments, utilizing complex procedures or techniques
  • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of Biobank safety rules and procedures
  • Collect and process bio specimens from patients in clinics or laboratories
  • Organize shipping of bio specimens according to MTA and biospecimen transferring SOPs
  • Oversee the operations, testing, and maintenance of core Biobank equipment
  • Provide training to undergraduate students to perform fecal specimen processing
Requirements
  • Completion of a relevant technical program or university degree in a relevant discipline
  • Minimum three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives and demonstrate a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Organized and adaptable, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
