Hours: 8 or 12 Hours
Shifts: Days/Evenings/Nights/Weekends

Job Summary
- Plan, manage, and evaluate nursing care for clients and families within the RPN scope of practice in the context of an interdisciplinary practice
- Use current theoretical and research knowledge and the input of team members to plan and implement care for clients and families
- Participate in inter-professional team care planning forums, inter-professional rounds and family conferences
- Provide mentorship to Nursing students and new staff on the unit
- Participate in professional, program and hospital-wide initiatives, including professional development of self
- Compliance with and commitment to client safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for clients
- Current Registration with CNO as an RPN
- Completion of college, or other approved Registered Practical Nursing Program, including practicum experience
- Current medication certificate meeting the standards of practice outlined by the CNO
- Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support (C level) Heart Saver Plus (Canada)
- Member, Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario (RPNAO), preferred
- Well developed conceptual and theoretical understanding of nursing concepts as they relate to client population and an ability to articulate these concepts
- Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
- Compliance with confidentiality requirements
- Demonstrates ability to organize patient care demands and to set priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
- Minimum one-year experience in rehab, reintegration unit, complex continuing care or long term care facility preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of the needs of adult and geriatric populations.
- Demonstrated passion for change and ongoing improvement in support of client care and safety.
- Client-service oriented, excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work effectively with a variety of staff, clients and families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Ability to impart knowledge to nursing and interdisciplinary students within the context of a teaching environment
- Good knowledge of standards of nursing practice and applicable health care legislation
- Demonstrated ability to identify and meet own learning needs for pursue ongoing professional development
- Successful candidates are required to work rotational shift
- Computer proficiency required
- Ability to demonstrate strong health assessment skills
