Respiratory Therapist I Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist I to join our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit team at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our respiratory therapy services.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
- Operate and maintain respiratory equipment, ensuring optimal function and safety.
- Initiate and monitor ventilator-dependent patients, making adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Administer medical gas therapies and provide cardio-pulmonary monitoring to patients.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement care plans that meet the needs of patients and their families.
- Participate in departmental and program meetings to share knowledge and best practices.
- Contribute to the education and mentoring of students, staff members, and other healthcare professionals.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy and successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care examination.
- Current and continuing registration with the British Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT) and the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT).
- Current Basic Life Support certification.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of respiratory therapy principles and practices.
