Job Summary: The City of Burnaby seeks an Infrastructure Security Analyst to maintain the security of its IT systems and data, with a focus on securing network, systems, and cloud environments.

The Infrastructure Security Analyst is a skilled technical role responsible for maintaining the security of the City's IT systems and securing its data. Key responsibilities include:

  • Configuring and deploying security software and hardware
  • Troubleshooting related systems and participating in the evaluation and acquisition of security technology
  • Investigating security incidents and developing, planning, improving, and monitoring security measures to protect the City's computer networks, connected devices, cloud environment, and information
  • Participating in the design of Information Security solutions in accordance with industry best practices, regulatory guidelines, and City policies
  • Performing assessment services, including network security testing, application security assessments, and threat modeling

The ideal candidate will have a two-year diploma in computer sciences or a related discipline, with a minimum of two years of hands-on experience in Information Security, specifically in managing security vulnerabilities, doing security assessments, and performing security audits.

The role requires:

  • Considerable knowledge of security concepts, practices, and techniques related to firewalls, IDS/IPS, secure network design, vulnerability assessment, security-centric quality assurance, data security, encryption, and data loss prevention
  • The ability to engage and communicate with a variety of audiences, both technical and non-technical
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts
  • The ability to monitor the security of the City's IT assets, investigate and resolve problems, and implement remedial actions

Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience in securing cloud environments.
