About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Business Partner to join our team at The Universal Group. As a key member of our HR department, you will play a critical role in driving business success by providing strategic HR guidance and support to our management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Human Resources Partnership
    • Provide expert HR advice and guidance to management on HR-related matters.
    • Develop and implement HR programs and initiatives to support business objectives.
    • Collaborate with management to deliver HR services that meet the needs of the business.
    • Partner with internal clients to integrate talent programs into strategic plans.
    • Continuously seek opportunities to improve HR processes and procedures.
    • Utilize business intelligence to inform HR decisions and drive business outcomes.
    • Execute talent management strategies to enhance retention and employee experience.
    • Deliver talent programs, including continuing education and leadership development.
    • Offer guidance and support on performance management, employee relations, and HR compliance.
    • Assist in developing compensation and benefits strategies to attract and retain top talent.
    • Oversee the implementation of employee engagement initiatives to enhance job satisfaction.
    • Ensure compliance with all HR-related legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain and organize HR administrative and services.
  • Labour Relations Partnership
    • Act as lead representative for the company in all union relationships and transactions.
    • Support senior management and executive leadership on tactical approaches to union and performance matters.
    • Manage and nurture relationships with union representatives and internal clients.
    • Deliver advisory services to assist management in handling performance and behavior issues.
    • Support management to continually improve employment knowledge, best practices, and leadership.
    • Support negotiations of supplementary agreements outside principle CBAs (MOAs, LOUs, etc.).
    • Interpret and apply collective agreements.
    • Produce bargaining preparation, including cost modeling and research.
    • Facilitate grievance handling at all steps, including preparation for potential arbitrations.
    • Assist in preparing responses for arbitration and human rights claims.
    • Maintain in-depth knowledge and understanding of unionized workforces, collective bargaining, work issues/grievances, and leading decisions.
    • Conduct workplace investigations and facilitate progressive discipline.
    • Support attendance management.
    Requirements
    • Minimum level of education equivalent to a bachelor's degree.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in an HR/LR advisory or business partner role with a track record of progressing scope of responsibility.
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience in unionized environments.
    • Evident leadership and persuasion skills.
    • High standard of customer service orientation.
    • Expert understanding of employment regulations and legislation.
    • Solid knowledge of employment, labour, and privacy laws.
    • Proven abilities with office productivity software and HRIS systems.
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
    • Intuitive EQ with excellent communication, both written and verbal.
    • Solid problem-solving skills.
    • High level of confidentiality and sensitivity.
    • Demonstrated tactfulness and diplomacy.
