Job Title: Unit Assistant

Department: Outpatient Clinic Services Program

Job Summary: As a Unit Assistant, you will perform a variety of supportive functions for patients and staff, maintaining the cleanliness of the clinical work environment. You will work with cytotoxic and hazardous medications on a regular basis, and personal protective equipment (PPE) and training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine tasks to maintain the cleanliness of the clinical work environment
  • Work with cytotoxic and hazardous medications on a regular basis
  • Provide support to patients and staff

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide Course
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting and transporting of patients, samples, and equipment to other areas
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or ability to obtain same prior to employment
  • Satisfactory employment record
  • Ability to legally work in Canada

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience in ambulatory and/or inpatient care setting
  • Basic computer skills
