Shared Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Unit Assistant to join our team at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. As a Unit Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing basic supportive care to patients and contributing to the overall well-being of our patients and families.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Manager Health Services, the Unit Assistant will assist with patient care, provide basic supportive care, and demonstrate a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the region/facility/unit.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient care and provide basic supportive care as directed
  • Act as a member of the health care team and demonstrate a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the region/facility/unit
  • Provide excellent care and support to patients and families
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve positive patient outcomes
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba standards, required
  • Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide course required
  • Previous patient care experience preferred
  • Excellent command of the English language (both oral and written)
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assigned workload
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands
  • Ability to perform as a team member and seek assistance as necessary
Physical Requirements
  • Position involves extensive physical activity such as lifting, transferring and transporting patients and equipment
