Thompson-Nicola Regional District
Communications and Special Projects Internship - TNRL

About the Thompson-Nicola Regional District
Encompassing an unparalleled geographic region in the heart of British Columbia, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) offers the best of both worlds. Urban life within vibrant communities and outlying rural regions showcase the region's beauty: pristine but rugged mountains, rolling grasslands, lush evergreen forests and both historic and modern areas, all within approximately 45,000 square kilometres. Headquartered in the City of Kamloops, the TNRD provides a wide range of local government services to a population of 144,000 located within its 11 diverse municipalities and 10 electoral areas.

Our Library System
The Thompson-Nicola Regional Library (TNRL), the biggest department of the Regional District provides services through 13 locations, a Mobile Library and Library Home Service. Located in the Central Interior of British Columbia, the TNRL is committed to providing excellent service to patrons for lifetime personal growth, learning and enjoyment. The Library team provides programming, materials and resources to people of all ages and abilities. The Communications and Special Projects Intern will work in an organization that values flexibility and exemplary service. As a member of the TNRL, you will support the library in building strong relationships in all of our communities.

The Role

This position will also require some public speaking as the Intern will lead focus groups. The ability to synthesize data, summarize results and determine trends will support the Intern in drafting the strategic plan, and aligning it to the regional district priorities. The Intern will report to the Manager of Discovery and Support Services, participate as a member on the library's marketing and communications committee and may be called upon to assist with other special projects. This position also participates in public service (circulation, reference and readers' advisory provision) that will help inform the planning and writing of the strategic plan.
