This is a hybrid position based out of Dentalcorp's Toronto Support Centre and reporting to the VP, Financial Reporting and Accounting Policy, the Director of Tax role is critical to Dentalcorp's long-term growth ambitions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Canadian tax compliance and the principle contact for government tax audits.
  • Responsible for Canadian tax compliance and elections arising from all acquisitions.
  • Responsible for the Canadian quarterly and annual income tax provision and related note disclosures.
  • Manage and track all filing deadlines and requirements associated with the above.
  • Responsible for complex tax issues.
  • Providing oversight of Canadian tax payments and estimates communicated to Treasury and overall responsible over Canadian tax accounts to ensure activity and balances are reconciled and appropriately reflect the Company's tax position and status.
  • Ensure transfer pricing policies and documentation are current, consistently applied and in compliance with transfer pricing regulations.
  • Providing business analysis upon request including projections of future cash taxes.
  • Consistently monitor and evaluate the internal processes and guidelines to ensure efficiency and provide recommendations on optimizing and automating the tax function while minimizing tax risks.
  • Actively monitor, assess the impact of and respond to potential Canadian tax changes impacting the organizational structure.

What we're looking for

  • Post-secondary education in a related field and minimum of 8+ years work experience in Tax, dealing with complex tax issues and optimization projects.
  • Professional accounting designation CPA or CA required.
  • Ability to live and champion the Dentalcorp values (integrity, collaboration, innovation, excellence) with every interaction.
  • Hands on experience, comfort and interest with ERP Systems and BI Tools.
  • Comfortable with a rapidly growing and dynamic environment.
  • Detail oriented, hands-on, analytical, change agent with experience in and motivated by a high-growth, acquisitive, fast paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • Superior analytical skills with ability to synthesize complex issues into actionable points.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure.
  • Able to manage competing priorities, meet deliverables while building relationships with colleagues.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple large complex projects.
  • Ability to mentor and provide coaching to the team and lead the team through a transition where they will be increasingly depended on to provide value added insights.
