Key Responsibilities: • Champion a people-first culture, driving HR initiatives and decisions with a keen awareness of employee well-being, with a special focus on services for children and youth. • Lead efforts to create a supportive work environment that celebrates Indigenous culture and values, enhancing staff experience and connection. • Manage comprehensive HR operations, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, and performance management. • Enhance HR processes to bolster efficiency and effectiveness, tailored to meet the unique needs of our services for children. • Offer expert guidance on employee relations matters, cultivating a positive and inclusive workplace. • Develop strategies to bolster employee engagement and retention, with particular consideration for those involved in services for children and youth. • Incorporate Indigenous educational perspectives and cultural competencies into HR policies and practices. • Update and maintain HR policies to comply with best practices and legal standards, with a lens on Indigenous governance and community relations. • Spearhead talent management initiatives, including workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development, with a priority on cultural diversity and inclusion. • Oversee training and development programs, ensuring they align with staff needs, including Indigenous cultural safety, health and safety strategic plans, and early intervention strategies. • Engage in Work Safe BC claims management and liaison for early intervention. • Contribute to health and safety strategic plans and serve on the Management Safety Committee, advocating for staff wellness programs that include Indigenous health practices. • Leverage HR metrics and analytics to make informed strategic decisions that support staff well-being and organizational goals. • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with various stakeholders, including Indigenous communities and educational institutions, to bolster the agency's support systems. Qualifications and Skills: • Advanced degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, with a strong preference for candidates with education or experience in Indigenous community work. • At least 7 years of progressive HR experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior HR role, ideally within an organization focused on children's services. • Comprehensive knowledge of HR best practices and legal compliance, with an emphasis on Indigenous cultural practices and perspectives. • Demonstrated leadership and operational management expertise with a commitment to people-first strategies. • Exceptional communication skills, fostering connections with diverse cultural groups, particularly Indigenous communities. • Analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, using HR data to drive organizational decision-making. • Experience in leading transformative change and nurturing a positive workplace culture, especially in child-focused service environments. • Dedication to cultivating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment, with specific attention to Indigenous representation and well-being.
