Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team at the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. As a key member of our infrastructure management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and integrity of our transportation structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer consultant assignments and review submissions to identify areas for improvement
  • Conduct inspections for routine, non-routine, and emergency structure investigations
  • Prepare preliminary and final designs for new structures and rehabilitation of existing structures, including contract documents
  • Provide engineering advice and direction to internal staff and consultants on assigned projects
  • Provide structural engineering expertise in safety assurance and infrastructure management activities
  • Conduct construction liaison, consultant supervision, and liaison with external agencies
Requirements
  • Professional Engineer license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
  • Valid class G driver's license or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven knowledge of structural engineering design and practices related to bridges and other transportation structures
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC)
  • Knowledge of structural computer software and Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) programs
  • Knowledge of road design, hydrology, soils, foundations engineering materials, and construction practices
  • Knowledge of manuals, guidelines, and precedents governing structural engineering activities
