We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team at the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. As a key member of our infrastructure management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and integrity of our transportation structures.
Key Responsibilities- Administer consultant assignments and review submissions to identify areas for improvement
- Conduct inspections for routine, non-routine, and emergency structure investigations
- Prepare preliminary and final designs for new structures and rehabilitation of existing structures, including contract documents
- Provide engineering advice and direction to internal staff and consultants on assigned projects
- Provide structural engineering expertise in safety assurance and infrastructure management activities
- Conduct construction liaison, consultant supervision, and liaison with external agencies
- Professional Engineer license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
- Valid class G driver's license or equivalent
- Proven knowledge of structural engineering design and practices related to bridges and other transportation structures
- Knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC)
- Knowledge of structural computer software and Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) programs
- Knowledge of road design, hydrology, soils, foundations engineering materials, and construction practices
- Knowledge of manuals, guidelines, and precedents governing structural engineering activities
