About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate professional to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect services to children, adolescents, and their families admitted to our psychiatric units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments of individuals suffering acute episodes of mental illness
- Develop and implement treatment plans with children, adolescents, and their families within a biopsychosocial treatment model
- Provide counseling using a variety of modalities, including brief therapy, motivational interviewing, and family systems
- Participate in the development of the group therapy component of the program and co-facilitate child, adolescent, and parent groups
- Liaise with hospital and community mental health practitioners, schools, family physicians, and community resources
- Provide education and consultation to healthcare professionals on issues related to high-risk factors and current community practice
- Participate in research, quality improvement, and program planning and development relevant to the needs of children and youth
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work from an approved school of Social Work
- Three (3) years' recent, related clinical experience in Child and/or Adolescent Mental Health
- Current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers
- Comprehensive knowledge of major mental illness and family dynamics
- Ability to assess high-risk factors and work with children and adolescents with mental health and substance use problems
