About the Opportunity

Aecon is seeking a highly skilled EHS Advisor to join our team on the SMR-X Project. As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the construction of Canada's first Small Modular Reactor.

Job Summary

The EHS Advisor will actively promote a healthy and safe culture to all levels of employees within the organization, ensuring compliance with regulations, safe work practices, and procedures. This role will support project-specific conventional safety and environmental management plans and procedures, including inspections, audits, observation, and coaching.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement project-specific safety and environmental management plans and procedures
  • Train project staff in safety procedures and protocols
  • Track and report safety-related statistics and manage Return to Work and Modified duties cases
  • Support Human Performance program activities and assist in the development of JSA, High Hazard, Critical Lifting, and Handling forms
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Designation such as CHSO or CRSP
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Health and Safety within the nuclear construction industry
  • Relevant Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience in the Health and Safety field
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage sub-contractors' safety performance
  • Emergency Planning and Hot Work Procedures
  • Able to lift at least 50 pounds and climb ladders, if required
  • Comfortable with different work locations and job sites
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and be proactive
  • Champion of inclusion and diversity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
