Health and Safety Advisor

Job Opportunity:
Aecon Nuclear is seeking a skilled Health and Safety Advisor to join their team on the SMR-X Project. As part of an alliance agreement with Ontario Power Generation, Aecon will support the construction of Canada's first Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
The successful candidate will report to the EHS Manager and be responsible for promoting a healthy and safe culture within the organization. This includes ensuring compliance with regulations, safe work practices, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support project-specific conventional safety and environmental management plans and procedures.
- Train project staff in safety procedures and track and report safety-related statistics.
- Manage Return to Work and Modified duties cases at the field level.
- Develop and audit JSA, High Hazard, Critical Lifting and Handling forms.
- Support Human Performance program activities.
Requirements:
- A designation such as CHSO or CRSP.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Health and Safety within the nuclear construction industry.
- Relevant Post Secondary education or equivalent experience in the Health and Safety field.
- Strong leadership abilities, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage sub-contractors' safety performance.
- Emergency Planning and Hot Work Procedures.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and climb ladders, if required.
- Comfortable with different work locations and job sites.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and be proactive.
- Champion of inclusion and diversity.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
