Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families, providing support and care in accordance with established care plans.
- Provide personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, and assisting with oral hygiene and toileting needs.
- Perform nursing care functions, such as ensuring patients know their Kardex, risk triggers, and signature behaviors, and communicating reports and records in the patient chart.
- Respond to call bells and alarms, and assist with emergent situations as needed.
- Observe and monitor patient progress and behavioral changes, reporting significant observations to the Registered Nurse or designate.
- Grade 10 or equivalent education.
- Graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant or Care Attendant program, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
