About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Palliative Complex Care Unit team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to individuals living with advanced illness.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients, utilizing a patient-centered approach and collaborating with the healthcare team to develop an individualized plan of care.
  2. Collect and analyze patient information, using skills of observation, communication, and physical assessment to inform nursing decisions and provide timely and accurate reports.
  3. Consult and collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement care plans, and participate in interdisciplinary conferences to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  4. Act as an advocate for patients' rights, promoting autonomy, cultural competence, respect, privacy, dignity, and access to information.
  5. Participate in quality improvement activities and research, identifying patient care issues and contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved school of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • One year of recent acute medical/surgical nursing or acute palliative care experience, plus completion of a certificate in the designated clinical area, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the scope of practice of other healthcare disciplines, knowledge in the field of palliative care, and ability to apply clinical knowledge in practice.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
