Job Opportunity: Senior Estimator

Wood is seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join the Minerals & Metals team in Vancouver. This is a contract position, and the selected candidate will report to the Director of Project Controls.

The successful candidate will be responsible for directing the estimating effort for large industrial projects from conceptual design through planning and construction. This includes developing and maintaining estimating procedures, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards, and providing guidance to junior estimators.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain estimating procedures and guidelines
  2. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards
  3. Provide guidance and training to junior estimators
  4. Lead estimating efforts for large industrial projects
  5. Develop and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders

Requirements:

  1. A minimum of 10 years of experience in estimating and leading capital cost estimates for mining or heavy industrial projects in an EPC/EPCM setting
  2. Previous lead estimator experience on mining projects and field experience is preferred
  3. Demonstrated experience with estimating costs for international projects
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven capability in delivering presentations to senior management
  5. Effective organizational skills, strong work ethic, and leadership skills
  6. Demonstrated skill and ability to identify and solve problems in a prompt and decisive manner
  7. Sound knowledge of construction processes
  8. Knowledge of the AACEI estimate classifications and guidelines
  9. An engineering degree or engineering technologist diploma will be considered an asset
  10. Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
