Operations Manager \r

Bayer Crop Science is seeking a highly motivated individual to become part of the multi-disciplinary Trait & Pipeline Delivery (TPD) organization.

Based out of Carman, Manitoba, the Operations Manager will partner with and support the Site Lead and TPD Team to effectively coordinate and deliver seed processing and production processes to support worldwide evaluation and commercialization of agricultural products.

The Operations Manager will also administer and execute projects to ensure compliance, support site safety programs and develop relationships with internal and external partners and key influencers.

Key Tasks:
\r

\tManage the canola seed processing and packaging program at the site \tRecruit, train, supervise and support the growth and development of other employees including seasonal contractors as needed throughout the season \tAssist in the execution of observation and seed production nurseries for canola and soybean \tSupport quality and efficiency initiatives benefitting site operations \tImplement HSE procedures and programs for safe operation of the research program \tMaintain facilities and equipment for effective and efficient operation \tRepresent Bayer Crop Science and the TPD group on field tours, industry seminars, etc. \tPartner with other Operations Managers or Field Testing Agronomists within the TPD and North America Field Testing Operations teams as well as Scientists and Planning teams \r

What you will do:
\r

\tEnsure safe and efficient operation of the research program with respect to budgetary guidelines and expectations. \tSupport the site HSE program as it applies to TPD \tPlays a vital role in trial preparation including seed processing, packaging, shipping, protocol review, trial placement and mapping/field design \tUtilize proprietary software and equipment for inventory management, data collection and quality control \tDevelop, maintain and implement the use of controlled SOP documents, QMS procedures and investigative protocols \tComply with all CFIA and Bayer Crop Science regulatory compliance guidelines for handling and shipping of treated and potentially stewarded seed material \tRegular interaction with other Operations Managers, FTA's, Site Leads, Operations Leads, Planning Managers and Scientists is expected to facilitate efficient trial planning and placement, sharing of ideas and techniques and quick response to scenarios that may arise (e.g. weather or pests affecting trials, logistical issues affecting shipping) \r

Who you are:
\r

\tB.Sc. or M.Sc. in Agriculture or related field with 1 year/summer agricultural research experience; or Agricultural diploma and 3+ years agricultural research experience \tExperience coordinating/supporting operations for field research or experience in production scheduling \tOperation and maintenance of agricultural research lab equipment \tEffective team leadership qualities including excellent organizational and motivational skills, accurate record keeping and attention to detail \tStrong verbal and written English communication skills \tKnowledge of basic statistical analysis and experimental field research design principles \tComputer skills related to data acquisition and analysis, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and precision agriculture technology \tAppropriate provincial driver's license \tAbility to work overtime, including managing seasonal overtime of full and part-time staff in accordance with appilcable provincial regulations \tBroad knowledge preferred of Canadian crop production and farming practices, canola, corn and/or soybean agronomy, plant breeding and precision agriculture applications \tFirst Aid certification, provincial pesticide application licesne and TDG certifications are preferred \r
