As a Senior Project Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the proper accounting and reporting of CPKC's investments in capital projects, valued at over $2.5 billion annually.

About the Role

  • Work with various departments to ensure accurate accounting and reporting of capital projects
  • Contribute to the project life cycle, from asset creation to retirement
  • Prepare and present financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual spend
  • Perform account analysis and reconciliations, identifying and resolving inconsistencies
  • Review and finalize assets upon project completion
  • Ensure compliance with internal control requirements and accounting policies
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including auditors and internal reviewers

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or relevant field
  • Accounting designation, such as CFA, CPA (CA/CMA/CGA), or equivalent
  • Minimum 3-4 years' experience in related financial roles
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to apply financial principles and theories
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
