What is the opportunity?

As the Manager, Business Risk Initiatives, you will support Wealth Management (WM) Operational Risk and Shared Services (OR&SS) in helping to lead segment-wide initiatives to promote best risk practices across WM. In this role you will assist in the design and execution of Business Risk initiatives by engaging with stakeholders across RBC including WM, other RBC segments, Group Risk Management, and other Centres of Governance.

What will you do?

Support the Senior Manager, Business Risk Initiatives. This includes:

  • Lead segment-level Business Risk initiatives to promote best risk practices across WM, researching, analyzing, and performing work efforts, including reporting to senior management
  • Assist the Senior Manager in building a Business Risk Initiatives program and team to support Wealth Management Operational Risk leadership, including providing expertise, advice and counsel to management and WM colleagues, enhancing WM ability to anticipate and manage business risks effectively
  • Perform management-requested analysis, reviews, and reporting for senior management within WM leveraging strategic decision making
  • Report on Risk Appetite for Wealth Management and all six lines of business and legal entity reporting to the WM&I Operating Committee
  • Support the annual refresh of WM Risk Appetite, measures and thresholds
  • Support the implementation of a robotic process automation (RPA) governance framework across WM
  • Drive the implementation of the WM's RPA risk assessment process, and support de-risking of the segment's RPA program
  • Manage critical team archives and reference material - minutes, operating procedures, guidance documents, and supporting evidence for Operational Risk programs
  • Understand WM's Operational Risk program and key drivers such as OREs, KRIs, RCM, ICMP, RCSAs, and issues management in order to drive change and promote best risk practices
  • Other projects, as assigned

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • University Degree with over 5 years of financial industry experience in areas such as operational risk, audit, or compliance functions
  • Advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Tableau
  • Strong problem solving, analytical (including qualitative and quantitative analysis), and research skills
  • Ability to deal effectively with senior management and multiple stakeholders with strong communication skills, and the ability to present information clearly
  • Ability to work independently & efficiently under tight timelines

Nice to Have

  • Professional designation in Risk or Finance such as CPA, CFA, or MBA
  • Some knowledge of Wealth Management business and Operational Risk programs
