The District of Kent is offering an exciting opportunity in our Recreation, Culture & Projects Department for a Facility Technician Coordinator.

The incumbent in this position is responsible for the maintenance of the District of Kent's Civic facilities (Ferny Coombe Pool and Community Recreation & Cultural Centre) including, but not limited to, other civic buildings/sites; Centennial Park, Municipal Hall, Fraser Valley Regional District Library, Aberdeen Building, and upcoming Lets'emot Regional Aquatic and Recreation Centre. Other areas include
properties and other assets owned and/or operated by the District. Inspection and maintenance activities may be undertaken through the performance of general tradesperson duties, while observing and complying with municipal policies, applicable health and safety practices/regulations, and building codes/regulations.

The incumbent will follow direction from the Director of Recreation, Culture and Projects (or their designate) and have the capacity to work in a self-directed manner. The incumbent will also be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective inspection and maintenance programs and may be required to supervise staff. The successful individual should be a semi-skilled tradesperson with pool or civic building infrastructure experience performing a variety of tasks with a varying degree of scope and complexity. Requirements include:

Grade 12 Diploma or proven equivalent;Minimum two (2) years related experience in skilled trades and/or building maintenance; preferably in one or more of the following areas: Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical HVAC, Boiler/Pressure Vessels, Pool Filtration/Water Chemistry;Course completion in equipment operation or combination of related training and experience preferred;WorkSafeBC Level 1 Occupational First Aid (or equivalent);Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate;Pool Operator Level 2 Certification;Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence with recent abstract (Class 3 with air endorsement preferred);
Pay and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Agreement, CUPE Local 458. The 2024 post- probation wage rate for this position is $38.00 per hour plus a comprehensive benefit package.
