Working within the Community Infrastructure department, reporting to the building maintenance manager the laborer will be efficient, and safety minded. The Labourer will be responsible for taking care of the essential everyday labour tasks. You will be a member of an interdisciplinary team of trades professionals, working collaboratively to support the community and infrastructure department of Seabird Island.

**WHAT YOU'LL DO**
- Perform materials handling; this includes delivering materials from one site to another and loading and off-loading.
- Perform basic laboring work such as digging, raking, etc.
- Assist with inventory tracking of tools, supplies and other materials.
- Preform set-up and clean-up requirements at various job sites.
- Prepare power tools and equipment as required and assist with general preventative maintenance tasks re: tools, equipment and vehicles.
- Painting, when and where required.
- Direct traffic when necessary to ensure safety of pedestrians, motorists and work crew.
- Operate heavy machinery, including construction vehicles such as a backhoe to move and fill in sand, when and where required.
- Follow instructions/directions as given and follow through with all tasks in a time efficient manner.
- Ensure that the necessary paperwork required for all units is available at all times.
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor, Director, or the Executive Director

**WHAT YOU BRING**
- Previous experience working in a construction environment would be considered an asset.
- Completion of High school or GED.
- Basic understanding of occupational health and safety, and construction principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of WHMIS and/or CSTS.
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Excellent attendance.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work safely around underground utilities and overhead power lines, as well as in high traffic or congested work areas.
- Good physical strength, hand-eye coordination and endurance. Ability to lift, handle and move 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in extreme weather fluctuations.
- Ability to adhere to Oath of Confidentiality and Seabird Island Band Policies and Procedure.
- Knowledge and respect of Stó:lō culture, traditions and language is considered an asset.
- Experience working with First Nations communities is considered an asset.
- Valid BC Driver’s License, Class 5.
