We operate a range of businesses, including food and pharmacy stores, liquor stores, feed mills, petroleum facilities, and restaurants. Job Summary
The Wine Consultant will provide strategic direction, coaching, and training to our team members and guests, while supporting department managers and prioritizing safety in daily job duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement educational programs for team members and guests, including product knowledge, sales techniques, and wine tastings.
- Support private functions in the tasting center and collaborate with Wine Buyers to manage the purchasing, selling, and distribution of the personal wine locker program.
- Interact with guests on the sales floor to provide expert advice, create relationships with key wine purchasers, and educate team members.
- Maintain current industry and product knowledge through periodicals, meetings, and industry events.
- Create new or enhance existing programs to improve the experience of team members and guests.
- Lead and inspire the team to achieve excellence and contribute to the Corporate Values of Integrity, Community, and Excellence.
Requirements
- Recognized wine education designation (WSET 3 preferred or WSET 2 with a strong passion for wine).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the liquor industry.
- Experience hosting wine seminars and public events is an asset.
- Retail wine and spirits experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and able to manage computer files efficiently.
- Effective interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Motivation and ability to work in a busy environment.
- Effective planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain relationships outside of the organization that supports the organization.
- Enjoy working with the public.
- Ability to physically lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and stand for full 8 hour shift.
