Job Overview:

We seek a skilled Behaviour Consultant to join our dynamic team in a part-time contract role, contributing expertise to our early intervention programs in daycare centers. This role presents a unique opportunity to positively impact children's lives by providing specialized behaviour strategies in collaboration with our multidisciplinary team.

As a Behaviour Strategist, you will conduct comprehensive behaviour assessments, develop tailored intervention plans, and implement evidence-based strategies. Your focus will be on fostering a positive and supportive environment for children in daycare settings, enhancing their social skills, emotional regulation, and overall well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive behaviour assessments to identify children's strengths, challenges, and specific needs.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team to develop individualized behaviour intervention plans and goals.
  • Provide direct behaviour intervention services to children, including individual and group sessions, aligned with established plans and goals.
  • Implement evidence-based behavioural interventions and strategies, focusing on social skills, emotional regulation, and healthy regulation strategies.
  • Adapt and modify activities, environments, and support systems to optimize each child's participation and progress.
  • Monitor and document children's progress, maintaining accurate records and preparing progress reports for parents and team members.
  • Collaborate with educators, professionals, and parents to ensure a coordinated intervention approach and promote skills application across different settings.
  • Offer guidance, support, and training to parents and caregivers to integrate behaviour strategies into daily routines and activities seamlessly.
  • Stay abreast of the latest research, trends, and best practices in behaviour analysis and intervention.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Master's Degree or BSW in Social Work, Education, Psychology, or a related program; consideration may be given to candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and significant experience working with children and families affected by developmental needs.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with children, parents, caregivers, and team members.
  • Proven experience working with children in an early intervention or pediatric setting.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, behaviour analysis, and evidence-based practices.
  • Excellent assessment and analytical skills to identify individual needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage caseload and documentation requirements.
  • A vehicle is required for this position.
  • Valid Police check.

Work Environment Requirements:

The position involves occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work-related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers, and presentation materials. The employee must regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, colour vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts that require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must maintain emotional control under stress. This position may require the employee to work some evenings and weekends, including exposure to noisy and/or disruptive student behaviour. Potential exposure to bodily fluids and frequent childhood illnesses may occur.
