Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Quality, the MQSS is primarily responsible for the implementation of quality systems, flight and general safety activities in accordance with company policy and procedures for the CH149 Cormorant Search and Rescue Helicopter (CSH) program including Main Operating Bases (MOBs) in Gander, NL, Greenwood, NS and Comox, BC and as such is responsive to the Vice President CSH for related activities. The MQSS will also be required to manage and/or provide support to Quality and Safety functions at various Aerospace and Defence operations as required.

What You Will Do:
  • Provide management, leadership and supervision to Quality Department personnel employed at IMP CH149 Main Operating Bases, CC130J Hercules, and CT114 Tutor programs.
  • Liaise with internal Program Management, Branch/Department Heads and associated Managers to support program requirements and participate in the resolution of technical and Quality Management System (QMS) issues.
  • Manage and coordinate the Quality and Flight/General Safety activities to ensure compliance with documented procedures at the MOBs. Liaise with Customer Representatives and regulators on Quality, Flight and General Safety matters.
  • In support of assigned programs; review, amend or create QMS documentation including Quality Plans so as to incorporate the requirements of Quality and Safety.
  • Review contracts, Request for Proposals (RFPs), plans, reports or other documentation providing input where required to ensure compliance/compatibility with IMP s QMS.
  • Manage the audit program, conducting and/or delegating Quality and Safety audits in accordance with IMP s QMS for all areas deemed the responsibility of the MQSS.
  • Conduct investigations into technical, safety or quality matters.
  • Responsible for the initiation and execution of Corrective Action (CAR) and Nonconforming Part (NCR) reports including the conduct of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) as required.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence for internal and external distribution.
  • Maintain departmental and personnel performance records.
  • Identify and implement training requirements for assigned personnel.
  • Participate in and support company Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Manage MOB Quality Coordinators remotely from HIA Aerospace location, with the requirement for periodic travel to MOBs as required in support of Quality or Program activities.
  • Other duties as delegated by the Director, Quality.
What You Will Bring:
  • Engineer, Technologist or Technical Training from the Canadian Forces or a Transport Canada approved training organization or equivalent background of training and experience in the aircraft industry.
  • Must possess experience in the aviation industry with 3 years in supervisory capacity.
  • Must possess experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control with a working knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100 or AF9000 quality standards.
  • Formal training in the field of Quality Assurance/Quality Management is an asset.
  • Experience in the conduct of Internal Audits. In-depth knowledge of the DND Flight Safety program or Transport Canada Safety Management Systems (SMS), an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with DND Technical Airworthiness Manual an asset. Possess a detailed knowledge and in-depth experience in the interpretation of engineering specifications, standards and aircraft repair and overhaul practices and procedures.
  • Have a working knowledge of mechanical/electrical inspection, measuring and test equipment.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office.
  • Must possess advanced written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
  • Be able to prioritize workload to balance multiple assignments and work well under pressure with a minimum of supervision.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies, continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian Government Security Clearances.
